Building trust and communication between dog and human

Rewarding desired behaviours so the dog knows what earns praise, treats, and affection
Using fair corrections when needed, to stop unwanted behaviors
Balanced training is about clarity and communication, helping dogs feel secure by knowing what’s allowed, what’s not, and how to succeed. It’s not “all positive” or “all discipline” — it’s a thoughtful, customized approach that meets your dog where they are to help them become the happiest, most confident version of themselves.
Common Misunderstandings about Balanced Training

It’s not about punishment or harsh methods. We never aim to scare, hurt, or break a dog’s spirit. Corrections are fair, humane, and used only when needed — like calmly guiding a child away from danger.

It doesn’t mean we ignore positive reinforcement. In fact, rewards and praise are at the heart of balanced training. We simply add in boundaries and consequences to help dogs clearly understand what’s expected.

"I'm going to show everyone with a reactive dog this method"

It’s not “one size fits all.” Balanced training adapts to each dog’s personality, needs, and learning style. We work together to find what works best for your dog.
"Balanced training is just hitting ur dog"
"You never have to use treats to train"
Why we chose this method
Before I became a trainer, I spent years working in dog daycares, kennels, grooming salons—even a veterinary clinic. I saw it all: the overwhelmed dogs, the misunderstood behaviors, the frustration on both ends of the leash.

What struck me most was how rarely anyone truly listened to the dogs. Their body language was often ignored. Fear was mistaken for stubbornness. Energy was labeled as bad behavior. And time after time, I saw good dogs fall through the cracks because no one had the tools—or patience—to meet them where they were.

That’s why I chose balanced training. Because it's not a shortcut. It's not trendy. It’s a method rooted in communication, trust, and fairness. It gave me the ability to not only help dogs change, but to help them feel seen and safe along the way.

Bella needed that. So did Thor. So did I. And now, I’m here to offer it to you to help guide your perfectly imperfect misfit

Balanced training is a dog training approach that combines positive reinforcement (rewarding the behaviors we want) with fair, humane corrections (to gently guide dogs away from unwanted behaviors).
What is Balanced Training?
